* Revert "Introduce a string_ostream string builder facilty"Alp Toker2014-06-26
| | | | | | Temporarily back out commits r211749, r211752 and r211754. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@211814 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
* Introduce a string_ostream string builder faciltyAlp Toker2014-06-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | string_ostream is a safe and efficient string builder that combines opaque stack storage with a built-in ostream interface. small_string_ostream<bytes> additionally permits an explicit stack storage size other than the default 128 bytes to be provided. Beyond that, storage is transferred to the heap. This convenient class can be used in most places an std::string+raw_string_ostream pair or SmallString<>+raw_svector_ostream pair would previously have been used, in order to guarantee consistent access without byte truncation. The patch also converts much of LLVM to use the new facility. These changes include several probable bug fixes for truncated output, a programming error that's no longer possible with the new interface. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@211749 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

* SelectionDAG: Don't use MVT::Other to determine legality of ISD::SELECT_CCTom Stellard2014-06-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The SelectionDAG bad a special case for ISD::SELECT_CC, where it would allow targets to specify: setOperationAction(ISD::SELECT_CC, MVT::Other, Expand); to indicate that they wanted to expand ISD::SELECT_CC for all types. This wasn't applied correctly everywhere, and it makes writing new DAG patterns with ISD::SELECT_CC difficult. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@210541 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

* Allow alias to point to an arbitrary ConstantExpr.Rafael Espindola2014-06-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch changes GlobalAlias to point to an arbitrary ConstantExpr and it is up to MC (or the system assembler) to decide if that expression is valid or not. This reduces our ability to diagnose invalid uses and how early we can spot them, but it also lets us do things like @test5 = alias inttoptr(i32 sub (i32 ptrtoint (i32* @test2 to i32), i32 ptrtoint (i32* @bar to i32)) to i32*) An important implication of this patch is that the notion of aliased global doesn't exist any more. The alias has to encode the information needed to access it in its metadata (linkage, visibility, type, etc). Another consequence to notice is that getSection has to return a "const char *". It could return a NullTerminatedStringRef if there was such a thing, but when that was proposed the decision was to just uses "const char*" for that. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@210062 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

* Target: change member from reference to pointerSaleem Abdulrasool2014-05-17
| | | | | | | | | This is a preliminary step to help ease the construction of CallLoweringInfo. Changing the construction to a chained function pattern requires that the parameter be nullable. However, rather than copying the vector, save a pointer rather than the reference to permit a late binding of the arguments. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@209080 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8
* Add an optimization that does CSE in a group of similar GEPs.Eli Bendersky2014-05-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This optimization merges the common part of a group of GEPs, so we can compute each pointer address by adding a simple offset to the common part. The optimization is currently only enabled for the NVPTX backend, where it has a large payoff on some benchmarks. In a few targets this was already done pretty consistently, but it wasn't done *really* consistently anywhere. It is strictly cleaner IMO and necessary in a bunch of places where the DEBUG_TYPE is referenced from the generated code. Consistency with the necessary places trumps. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | behavior based on other files defining DEBUG_TYPE, which means it cannot define DEBUG_TYPE at all. This is actually better IMO as it forces folks to define relevant DEBUG_TYPEs for their files. However, it requires all files that currently use DEBUG(...) to define a DEBUG_TYPE if they don't already. I've updated all such files in LLVM and will do the same for other upstream projects. This still leaves one important change in how LLVM uses the DEBUG_TYPE macro going forward: we need to only define the macro *after* header files have been #include-ed. Previously, this wasn't possible because Debug.h required the macro to be pre-defined. This commit removes that. By defining DEBUG_TYPE after the includes two things are fixed: - Header files that need to provide a DEBUG_TYPE for some inline code can do so by defining the macro before their inline code and undef-ing it afterward so the macro does not escape. - We no longer have rampant ODR violations due to including headers with different DEBUG_TYPE definitions. This may be mostly an academic violation today, but with modules these types of violations are easy to check for and potentially very relevant. Where necessary to suppor headers with DEBUG_TYPE, I have moved the definitions below the includes in this commit. I plan to move the rest of the DEBUG_TYPE macros in LLVM in subsequent commits; this one is big enough. The comments in Debug.h, which were hilariously out of date already, have been updated to reflect the recommended practice going forward. git-svn-id: https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk@206822 91177308-0d34-0410-b5e6-96231b3b80d8

* [NVPTX] Add preliminary intrinsics and codegen support for textures/surfacesJustin Holewinski2014-04-09
| | | | | | This commit adds intrinsics and codegen support for the surface read/write and texture read instructions that take an explicit sampler parameter.
